Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.


Responsibilities

As an Engineering Co-Op, you can expect to:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Research, develops, analyze, design and test company products using engineering and scientific principles.
  • Translate engineering and scientific concepts from preliminary ideas through product life cycle.
  • Research and develop material and processes that support the translation from abstract concepts to functional products and processes.
  • Apply knowledge of scientific methods and tools to define and characterize behavior of products, services, and processes.
  • Integrate technical, cost, value, and safety considerations into the product or process definition to comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Document results in drawings, data sets, reports, specifications, and supporting data.
  • Interface with other members of project or program teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions to meet group, organization, and company objectives.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • You must be enrolled full time in a university degree program aligned to the area of Co-op.
  • You must be a current junior, senior or graduate student in good academic standing.

Preferred skills:

  • Strong CATIAv5 skills
    • Part design, assembly, wireframe and drawing workbenches
  • Experience working with Boeing 737 engineering data
  • Skills with Microsoft office suite
  • Interest in R&D, 3D Printing technology
