Pay Rate $45,520
Minimum Experience/Education
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Contributing: Four-year degree in a related business function; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Description



  • Provide executive, administrative, and personal support to the Dean of the Belk College of Business.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills as this position serves as primary point of contact for the Dean with other units on campus. Including, departmental faculty, staff, and external constituents.
  • Create effective working relationships on behalf of the Dean. This is a high-visibility position, requiring public contact with program staff, managers at other units within the College of Business, representatives of other state agencies/universities, clients, and service recipients.
  • Maintain the Dean's calendar and deadlines. Includes: scheduling meetings, events, solving scheduling conflicts and exercises independent judgment to make decisions that impact the effectiveness of Dean's role and time.
  • Maintain the Dean's email accounts; review email correspondence as appropriate, using sound judgement and knowledge of key stakeholders to prioritize and route information and requests in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the Dean's travel (including abroad travel) and work with members of the finance team to reconcile Dean's P-Card travel expenses.
  • Schedule meetings, workshops, seminars and other events for the Dean and College. Includes organizing the activities of the Board of Advisors meetings and keeping meeting minutes at the departmental faculty meetings.
  • Staff the mailroom to ensure checks and other sensitive/confidential documents are routed to the appropriate person.



  • Personnel Management
  • Regularly interface with members of the College of Business Finance and Personnel Team to discuss Dean-related expenses and budget.
  • Keep accurate records of job descriptions and departmental contacts.
  • Long-term this position will serve as the manager for the departmental coordinators of the college and assist with hiring personnel.


  • Systems Management
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (including excel), Smartsheets, Zoom, Google Drive
  • Experience/Ability to learn UNC personnel & finance systems: Concur (for travel), NinerTalent, Banner, and Kronos.

Other Work/Responsibilities
Other duties include compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, greeting/referring/assisting visitors/clients/staff/others, photocopying.
