Position Summary

This position will support the department by providing assistance for epidemiologic research studies. The Research Assistant (RA) will work with the principal investigator, research coordinator, data manager/analyst, information technologist, and biostatistician to perform data entry and statistical analysis. The RA will review, and aggregate data abstractions provided by the department's clinical data navigator. The RA will review the electronic medical records of study subjects, extract and enter data, and assist with the creation and completion of shell tables for publications. The RA will attend weekly meetings with the local team and twice monthly meetings with the study sponsor.

Responsibilities

• Work with PI and RC to implement the research study protocol, reporting directly to the PI.
• Participate in creation of the study database.
• Pilot test study database and suggest refinements to study database.
• Review electronic medical records for missing data.
• Enter missing data into study database.
• Perform descriptive statistics, e.g., proportions, means, medians.
• Assist statisticians with analysis of population-based incidence rates and infection rate ratios.
• Attend study meetings with local team and with sponsors.
• Participate in creation of abstracts and publications.
• Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least one and one-half years of related experience or equivalent in education, training and experience. Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in public health and at least one year of experience.
• Master's degree and at least one year of related experience.
• Experience working as a member of the research team.
• Experience writing epidemiologic manuscripts.
• Analytic skills with SPSS or SAS or equivalent.
• Proficiency in excel, word, RedCap and PowerPoint.

• Ability to read, speak and write effectively in English.
• Should be organized, thorough, able to maintain good records, work independently, and seek guidance when tasks are unclear or questions arise.
