The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the PI, the Research Staff Assistant will support research activities in Columbia's Social and Moral Cognition Lab. Studies in the lab focus on how children and adults understand their social world. We are currently investigating how people in different age groups make moral decisions, reason about and interact with people who are different from them, reason about supernatural entities (e.g., God), and perceive the criminal justice system.

Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter to be considered for this role. The cover letter should be 1-2 pages long and include research interests, past research experiences, and a list of three professional references (including names, e-mails, and phone numbers).

This is a one-year position with the possibility of extension if additional funding is secured.

Responsibilities



  • Recruits participants for in-person and online studies.
  • Records participant test data into a spreadsheet.
  • Creates PowerPoint presentations with illustrations used as stimuli.
  • Organizes and maintains a participant database.
  • Orders supplies, and assists with the preparation of forms and reports (e.g., IRB documentation).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High-school Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 0-3 months of experience in a research environment.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree desirable.
  • Some research experience preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
