DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position entails professional environmental work to ensure that DMVA-related properties and activities adhere to applicable federal, state, local, and military environmental laws, policies, and regulations. Your work will involve collaborating closely with National Guard units and facilities; agency staff, to include (but not limited to) military personnel, engineers, project managers, and maintenance personnel; other governmental agencies and regulators; and the general public, as needed. Your work tasks will include ensuring that DMVA and the PA Army National Guard remain in compliance with various applicable environmental regulatory programs and laws. Some of your duties may include conducting internal and external environmental audits; communicating environmental health and safety-related requirements for construction, maintenance, and demolition projects; ensuring environment compliance and safety programs are in place for veterans' facilities; and contributing to the preparation of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)/Environmental Condition of Property (ECP) documentation, and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) required documentation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 45-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Annville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
    • Due to the trainee nature of this position, approval to telework may not be granted until you have completed a sufficient period of training. Once approved for telework, you must work in the office at least 50% of the time within each pay period, subject to supervisory/management approval.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in the physical, biological, or environmental sciences; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
