POSITION SPECIFICS

The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing seeks a creative, passionate, and skilled Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our Strategic Communications and Recruitment team. This full-time position supports the college's mission by raising awareness of our programs, promoting engagement, and strengthening our brand.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will develop and implement a range of marketing, communications, and public relations strategies across print, digital, social media, events, and emerging media.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and edit content for websites, social media, articles, advertisements, publications, newsletters, photography, and event promotions

  • Identify leads and sources for information

  • Prepare creative briefs

  • Design and develop social media campaigns; aid in monitoring analytics

  • Ensure compliance with Penn State brand and style guidelines

  • Occasionally attend and provide support in various events across the college

The role involves working independently and in close collaboration with internal teams (including faculty members), external partners, and vendors to plan campaigns, track progress, and solve problems.

Faculty members in the college will be a key partner to the Marketing and Communications Specialist as this role will conduct interviews with them to produce feature pieces spotlighting them and their research.

Some of the centers and offices where core relationships will be built include the Tressa Nese and Helen Diskevich Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence, the Center for Nursing Research, and the Outreach and Professional Development Office.

This position will work remotely in the central Pennsylvania area with occasional in-person work required, which can be requested on short notice. Occasional evening or weekend work is also required.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have experience with the following:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (experience and proficiency)

  • Creating social media content for an organization or business

  • Writing web copy

Additional Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; inclusive and respectful when working with others.

  • Capable of thriving in collaborative environments

  • Demonstrated ability to be responsive and timely in addressing stakeholder needs

It is preferred that applicants have experience with writing research-related press releases or science writing, Hootsuite, and/or WordPress or other content management system (CMS) platforms.

Experience in healthcare-related environments, community health needs assessment, or healthcare delivery is a plus. It is also preferred that candidates have familiarity with Penn State's brand book, as well as photography and videography skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $51,000.00 - $74,000.00.
