Postdoctoral Associate in Environmental Remediation Science & Technology

Job Summary

Post-Doctoral Associate will assist researchers in research projects focused on the remediation of sites contaminated with heavy metals, radionuclides and other contaminants of concern (PFAS, TCE) and other work-related assignments as needed.

Duties

  • Perform research directed in the areas of environmental remediation and waste management of radionuclides.
  • Safely handle chemicals and operate analytical equipment to produce quality results as directed.
  • Generate technical reports including monthly, quarterly and year end reports pertaining to the designated subtasks.
  • Work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Analyze and summarize data, present at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals (IF greater than 3.0).
  • Train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the laboratory.
  • Participate in the development of proposals for additional funding in relevant research areas.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Environmental Engineering, chemistry, Material Science, or a related discipline, along with records of publications in highly respected national and international journals.

Departmental Preferences:

Applicants should have experience in researching fate and transport of contaminants in the subsurface, environmental remediation technologies, and/or process design for hazardous or radioactive waste disposal. Experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory and handling low levels of radioactivity is preferred. A willingness to work in a multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment is required
