Under general supervision, the Endoscopy Technician functions under the direct supervision of the gastroenterologist and RN to assist with the operation of technical equipment used during simple and complex endoscopic procedures. The physician, RN and GI tech work as a team in the procedure room to provide the optimal conditions for achieving positive patient outcomes. The endoscopy technician is responsible for the decontamination of and quality assurance for all endoscopy equipment and supplies. Other endoscopy tech responsibilities include facilitating patient flow, room turnover, stocking procedure rooms and ordering supplies. The endoscopy technician supports Optum Care Washington's (OCW) mission and values, service excellence process and clinic/department policies and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • 50% Cleaning and reprocessing of endoscopy equipment and endoscopy room turn around
    • Sets up and turns around endoscopy rooms for procedures
    • Establishes and maintains a clean environment to reduce the potential for infection
    • Cleans and reprocesses flexible endoscopes and ancillary equipment to SGNA and department specifications
    • Organizes tasks to facilitate endoscopy staff in room turn around
    • Monitors and maintains quality assurance data as related to endoscopy equipment and decontamination equipment
  • 35% Assisting physician with procedures
    • Assists physician with patient positioning and procedural needs while under the supervision of the registered nurse
    • Assists physician in specimen collection
      Processes specimens as outlined by department protocol
  • 10% Interpersonal Relationships & Communications
  • 8% Ordering of Supplies/Equipment
  • Orders supplies as needed for the endoscopy lab
  • Continually observes and anticipates any special supply needs or equipment problems
  • Monitors the functioning and maintenance of reprocessing equipment
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current BLS certification (must obtain within 3 months of hire)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a surgical technician or medical assisting program or recent experience as listed above
  • 2+ years of recent endoscopy/decontamination/sterilization experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $20.00 to $35.72 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
