Overview

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Lab Scientist to function as a Trainer and Laboratory Process Coordinator for the network.

This is a 32 hours/week position.


Responsibilities

Process coordinator job responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing Quality Control (QC) documentation support to operations.
  • Performs timely QC review of lab documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and SOPs.
  • Assists in the preparation of audits by coordinating documentation and performing a quality review to ensure completion.
  • Assists with the preparation and coordination of quality control educational programs: in-house workshops, presentations, training and seminars for new hires and existing staff.
  • Assists coworkers and Area Laboratory Manager to manage and schedule all assigned quality control projects.
  • Assists with lab quality process improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in supervisor meetings, as requested, to discuss findings and recommendations for resolving non-compliance.
  • Monitors and reports deviation QC trends to management.
  • Participates in continuing education through self-study, attending training sessions, lectures, and meetings.
  • Supports safety, quality, and accreditation requirements and initiatives.
  • Attends all COLA and CLIA site inspections.

Trainer job responsibilities

  • Create and implement training guide for all new employees.
  • Monitor and update all laboratory procedures as needed as well as medical director yearly sign off of procedures.
  • Eliminate inconsistencies in laboratory procedures, technical abilities, and reported lab results.
  • Become a technical resource to ensure optimal lab processes and equipment usage
  • Work as a unified group in training new employees
  • Oversee the required 6 month and yearly training checklists for new hires and current staff.
  • Analyze existing processes; collaborate with area supervisors to develop a meaningful plan to improve and standardize processes in each laboratory.
  • Work as bench tech, maximum 2 days/week as needed throughout all divisions to alleviate staffing shortages and to allow time for laboratory staff to work on continuing education, training, improving technical abilities, and beneficial lab improvement projects.
  • Coordinates, reviews, and maintains documentation of training and competency assessments for all laboratory staff.

Salary Range: $34.00-$43.00

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related health care field. Current state license if required. AMT, ASCP or equivalent certification preferred. Position requires a minimum of three years of experience.

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory quality systems and laboratory procedures.
  • MLS in good standing required.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory good documentation practices.
  • Good computer skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with laboratory staff, managers, and clients.
  • Applicable certifications and licenses as required by local regulations.

Requires corrected vision, color perception and hearing to normal range. Requires legible handwriting.
