The Sun Lab in the Carter Immunology Center at the University of Virginia, is currently seeking a wage Lab Technician or wage Lab Specialist to become a participating member of the Sun Lab. The primary purpose of this entry level position is to assist with performing complex experiments, per the direction of Principal Investigator or senior staff, to perform biological, immunological, chemical or physical analysis. The successful candidate will work with students, post-docs, and other members of the lab to assist in conducting all aspects of experiments. The position requires coordinating research projects and logistics with other lab members; compliance with University, Federal, and State policies and procedures; consulting with junior faculties and Principle Investigator regularly; and oversight of laboratory purchasing, equipment, and supplies required for operation of the laboratory. The individual should be self-guided and creative in seeking possible solutions to experimental/design challenges at hand and have strong communication skills. Other responsibilities include:
This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. Licensure: None. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals.
