Job Overview
The Logistician III will support NIWC contract operations by effectively managing logistics, training, travel, and coordination activities. This position requires a highly organized professional capable of overseeing training compliance, travel arrangements, documentation submissions, and maintaining liaison with the Facility Security Officer (FSO). The Logistician III will ensure smooth logistic and administrative support with strict adherence to government regulations and contract requirements.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
- Manage and coordinate contractor personnel travel events in support of work on deck plates, including travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations as required by contract performance.
- Ensure all travel complies with the latest Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and FAR 31.205-46 travel cost policies. Coordinate with Contracting Officer Representative (COR) prior to all travel for government coordination and approval.
- Coordinate and submit all necessary travel documentation requests, including SPOT, APACS, and Visit Requests, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Administer training management for contractor personnel. Ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements per the contract and participation in safety, security (e.g., Anti-Terrorism Force Protection), and operational exercises, including possible role-playing and reaction to exercise injects.
- Support and participate in operational training exercises, ensuring contractor personnel are prepared for their roles in these events.
- Maintain ongoing liaison with the Facility Security Officer (FSO) to manage security clearances, coordinate personnel access, and ensure compliance with all security regulations and requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of training, travel, and personnel readiness to support audit and contract compliance activities.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management and the COR on logistics, training status, travel schedules, and any issues impacting contract performance.
Accountable For:
- Ensuring complete and accurate logistics execution and cost reporting
- Managing logistics and training in a DoD or government contract environment.
- Knowledge of Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), FAR travel cost regulations, and government contract processes related to travel and training.
- Working with government and contractor personnel on security and travel coordination.
- Interaction with individual team members.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience supporting defense life-cycle acquisition logistics, with a strong emphasis on managing comprehensive training programs and travel coordination alongside established logistics management principles and processes.
- At least four (4) years of experience supporting C4ISR or similar complex systems, specifically involving planning, coordinating, and executing training exercises (including safety, security, and operational simulations) and extensive travel logistics to multiple CONUS and OCONUS locations as required by program objectives.
- A minimum of five (5) years' general experience in logistics management within federal service contracts or related sectors, with a demonstrated track record of successful travel event coordination, SPOT/APACS and Visit Request submissions, and rigorous travel compliance under Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and FAR 31.205-46.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.
Preferred:
- Extensive knowledge of government and DoD travel policies.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position in Support of AV contract to modernize Command & Operations Centers Worldwide. The work will be performed in person daily at our Chesapeake, VA office. No anticipated travel for this work.
Physical Requirements
- This role is primarily sedentary, involving desk work and computer use for extended periods.
- Must be able to frequently stand, walk, and move around the warehouse environment as needed.
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, and handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds from shelves and storage areas.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, and reach to access items at various heights, including from floor level and overhead shelves.
- Comfortable with occasional climbing of ladders or step stools to retrieve or organize inventory.
- Must demonstrate a proactive and active approach to tasks requiring physical effort, with the ability to assist in warehouse duties without hesitation.
