Description

The Clinical Manager is accountable for daily clinic operations, project management, program development and implementation, labor management, and overall operational administration for areas of assigned responsibility. This position creates and maintains a leadership infrastructure to support program operations; utilizes financial and clinical data to set strategic direction and initiatives; monitors and enhances the neurodiagnostic program effectiveness, efficiency, staff productivity, and customer satisfaction; reviews and analyzes neurodiagnostic program statistics; and uses results to improve and expand services. This position is responsible for identifying and capturing as well as enhancing existing new opportunities for revenue and business development; facilitates physicians in organizing and strategic planning and business development for new practices to commence. Position requires occasional rounding through all outpatient locations and various shifts in hospital. The clinical manager is also expected to provide direct inpatient or outpatient service as needed for patient access, minimum of two shifts per month.

Qualifications Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Requires bachelor's degree. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. (Required)

Minimum Work Experience
5 years Clinical Neurophysiology (Required) And
2 years Supervisory and scheduling experience in a 24/7 facility, preferably in a union environment. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) at intermediate level
Basic knowledge of data entry, data integrity, and database management
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, IT specialists for EEGs, and employees
Must be able to demonstrate and teach knowledge of all neurophysiology procedures

Required Licenses and Certifications
Registered by the American Board of Electro-neurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) Upon Hire (Required)

Functional Accountabilities
Functional and Technical Expertise
  • Speaks the language of the functional area.
  • Maintain competencies for a variety of complex specialized procedures such as electroencephalograph, evoked potential, epilepsy monitoring, and polysomongraphy.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for competency related questions.
  • Makes appropriate decisions given the circumstances.
  • Leverages technical expertise and partners with hospital and departmental/divisional leaders to achieve EMU, EEG and IOM program goals
Operations Management
  • Oversees schedule for the group ensuring proper distribution of assignments, adequate staffing, space and facilities for subsequent performance of duties. Maintains a high schedule fill rate; optimizes scheduling processes to ensure appropriate and timely access to diagnostic testing and other assessments.
  • Independently troubleshoot operational issues and develops action plans to resolve and overcome issues.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures, posts P&P and reviews on regular basis with staff. Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Acts as primary evaluator of capital purchases and lab supplies.
  • Determines fiscal requirements and prepares budgetary recommendations; monitors, verifies and reconciles revenues and expenses with budget performance reports. Responsible for administering programs and services within budgetary guidelines.
  • Plays active role in EEG lab's accreditation process.
  • Serves as a liaison and resource to staff fellows, and attending physicians for equipment used in daily operations.
  • Develops productivity standards for staff, monitors performance and optimizes staff performance.
  • Monitors demand and waitlists for neuro-diagnostic services across different locations and proposes schedule and staff changes needed to optimize capacity across sites
Human Resources Management and Staff Development
  • Responsible for all aspects of managing and leading a team including: interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees
  • Ensures neurophysiology technicians are trained and/or maintain required level of proficiency for set up, monitoring, etc. Appropriate lab and tech accreditation.
  • Provides constructive, objective and timely performance feedback.
  • Provides specific developmental assignments or training.
  • Uses empowering management style to allow others to test their capabilities.

  • Reviews and analyzes data. Uses data effectively to improve programs, including looking at lists and summaries, looking for patterns, analyzing results, and making presentations to others. Includes familiarity with the data available; knowledge of the goals of the program; understanding the needs of the audiences; and willingness to explore creative approaches to using data.
  • Data Integrity. Understanding definitions, program guidelines, and sources of data. Developing clear channels of communication. Reviewing data and working with colleagues to make sure that data is accurate. Being aware of potential weaknesses in the data when analyzing and using the data.
Budgeting and Financial Management
  • Assists departmental leaders with building and effectively implementing business plans for expansion to new locations. Serves as operational representative for select program planning for both existing and new program development and implements additions/changes (in partnership with Medical Director and department leaders).
  • Monitors budget performance by reviewing all relevant financial and productivity reports including: biweekly payroll report, labor productivity reports, budget performance and variance reports, prepares analysis and detailed report of variances and cause of variances and presents regularly to leadership.
  • Manages contracted vendor performance, including service level agreements, etc.
Safety
  • Acts as safety coach for the department and promotes safety a safety culture. Expert in safety policies and procedures.
  • Supports Medical Directors and Executive Director in identifying and implementing performance improvement initiatives, program presentations, and scorecards. Supports the physician leaders and medical director to develop pathways to improve quality of care and medical outcomes
  • Volunteers and participates in safety committees and work groups and encourages staff to do same
