Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2 - SCI Frackville

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist to provide casework and counseling services to inmates who are struggling with substance abuse and dependence. As a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 2, you will have a crucial role in helping inmates overcome their substance abuse issues. Your work will involve providing individual and group therapy, conducting initial assessments, and recommending appropriate treatment programs. You will also be responsible for conducting self-help groups and coordinating with other resources to support the recovery process. In addition, you will provide on-the-job training, advice, and guidance to new treatment specialists, students, and volunteers under the direction of a supervisor or manager. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,301.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of para-professional and one year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and certification by the PA Chemical Abuse Certification Board as a "Certified Addictions Counselor"; or
• One year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialist 1; or
• Two years of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting; and a bachelor's degree that includes 18 credits in the behavioral sciences; or
• One year of professional experience providing drug and alcohol counseling services directly to clients in a social work setting and a master's degree with major coursework in addictions science, psychology or social work; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in the behavioral sciences.
  

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
