DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Intelligence Analyst 1, you will be responsible for receiving and analyzing information of a confidential nature, placing pertinent facts in proper relationships, evaluating and vetting the information, and writing comprehensive reports based on available data. You will utilize various investigative and intelligence databases in response to requests for information from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. In addition, you will research and analyze criminal intelligence data on individuals, businesses, groups, and activities in response to requests for assistance in solving criminal investigations, developing leads, or in preparation for planned intelligence operations. You will also conduct interviews within the public and private sector as well as with law enforcement personnel to collect information to independently determine an appropriate course of action. Within this role, you may receive tips relating to drug, terrorism, and criminal activity and evaluate the information before forwarding to appropriate field personnel for follow-up inquiry.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours/week
  • This position requires rotating days and shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $55,436.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of paraprofessional research experience that includes gathering, analyzing, and organizing information, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 60 college credits.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a Secret Security Clearance issued by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or attainment of this clearance during the probationary period, and continual maintenance of this clearance during employment in the position.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have two years of experience in the criminal justice field.
  • You must have one year of experience in the use of multiple specialized analytical and intelligence systems; local, state, and federal databases; as well as open-source outlets and social media platforms.
  • You must obtain and maintain an active Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Police within the probationary period and maintain the same for the duration of employment in this job.
  • You must be willing to work onsite full-time. Teleworking is not an option as part of this position's work schedule.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two years of experience performing online research.
  • Two years of experience in written communication, providing overviews and summaries.
  • One year of experience in gathering and analyzing data; and organizing and presenting those facts clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
