About the role

Finding better ways to provide the materials the world needs.

We are looking for a Mine Planning Engineer to be a key member of the Integrated Planning team. The responsibility of this role will be to support the development of mine plans and strategies to maximize value of the Bingham Canyon resource and mitigate business risk. This role is a great opportunity; you will actively work with multiple stakeholders across the value stream to facilitate best practice and develop mine planning skills in production scheduling and mine design. Supporting both the mid-range and long-range planning teams, you will be responsible for:

  • Utilize mine planning and scheduling tools to create optimal mine designs and schedules.

  • Develop underlying assumptions for incorporation into business plans.

  • Effectively communicate the mine plans to allow management to make the best possible decisions.

  • Work with Hydrology, Geotech and Geology personnel to assure safe and optimal mine designs.

  • Communicate with management on the progress of planning and design as well as special projects.

  • Work with representatives from the rest of the value chain to properly model production and to support projects outside of the mine that require inputs from the mine plan.

  • Work with the concentrator, tailings, smelters and production support to obtain design criteria, costs, performance objectives, and constraints

  • Develop mine plans and waste dump plans at the appropriate level of detail to optimize long-term objectives and meet short-term commitments

What you will bring

College/University Education: B.S. Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent

Other Qualifications:

  • Requires excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to solve and communicate technical problems with practical solutions.

  • Requires strong reasoning and critical thinking.

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, including PowerPoint and Excel.

  • Must exhibit a strong understanding of mining principles.

  • Exposure to production scheduling systems and processes (COMET, MPSO, Deswik) will be beneficial

  • 4+ Years Mine planning experience in large open cut mining environments or complex poly-metallic value chains.

Training: MinePlan 3D (or equivalent mine CAD software), MPSO (or equivalent mine plan software), Excel, Powerpoint
