Inventory and Asset Coordinator - Steel America
Purpose:
Steel America, a division of Colonna's Shipyard, is seeking an Inventory and Asset Coordinator to support toolroom operations in Norfolk, VA.
Job Description:


  • Receive, reconcile, and store materials in an efficient manner.
  • Monitor, direct, and ensure that all incoming shipments are received properly, and all outgoing shipments are sent in a timely and proper fashion.
  • Design and implement work methods and procedures to increase productivity and improve service in the warehouse.
  • Motivate warehouse/toolroom personnel to ensure that predetermined productivity, cost and quality standards are achieved or exceeded.
  • Ensure safety and proper housekeeping.
  • Assure that all materials are stored/transported in conformance with all State and Federal regulations.
  • Must report defective/missing materials or questionable conditions to the Materials Manager.
  • Forward all requisitions for store room materials to the Purchasing Agents and Material Manager.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Check invoices, tags and material delivery requests to see that they are filled out correctly.
  • Check all material to see that it conforms to the description and quantity shown on forms.
  • Confirm receipt of goods provided in purchase order.
  • Enter material and all merchandise information into department/company database.
  • Package items following proper packaging requirements.
  • Fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by freight carriers.
  • Reconciliation of all government furnished property.
  • Assisting in any other warehouse activities or special projects as they arise.
  • Issue items to requesting employees.
  • Maintain inventory in the storeroom.
  • Operate various material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or light trucks to transport materials.
  • Stock and maintain proper inventory levels in consumable vending machines.
  • Issue Requests for Quotes (RFQs) to various vendors for tools, consumables, equipment, etc.
  • Generate Requisitions for Purchase Orders to the Purchasing Department for tools, consumables, equipment, etc.
  • Develop professional vendor relationships and host various vendors for tool, consumable, and equipment demonstrations.
  • Will be required to wear personal protective equipment- hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots/shoes and, when necessary, respirator.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have a High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least 2 years' experience working in a warehouse supervisory or similar position.
  • Must be able to weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Must have previous manufacturing shipping and receiving experience.
  • Must be able to work effectively with others.
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance.


Desired Qualifications:


  • Prefer experience with Costpoint.


Travel Requirements:


  • Minimal Travel; 10% or less.


Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 lbs.
  • Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels.
  • Frequent exposure to noise due to machinery and equipment.
  • Employee is required to operate trucks, forklifts & man-lifts.
  • While performing the duties of this job, you may frequently be required to stand, walk & sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl.
  • Work in extreme temperatures and conditions. At times you will work in areas that have less adequate ventilation.
  • Protective clothing or equipment and face shields or goggles shall be worn when needed.
