Manager - Sales & Use Tax

The Manager - Sales & Use Tax is responsible for management of the sales/use tax compliance and audit function for Wendy's companies. Other responsibilities include certain specific processes and inputs relative to accounting for sales/use taxes, legislation, research, tax reserves and assistance with the management of the sales/use tax compliance function for the Company. The overall objective of this position is to effectively manage the compliance for sales/use tax area and resolve state audits for the Company in compliance with state laws while minimizing the tax burden for the Company and efficiently managing company resources throughout the process. Responsibilities

• Managing the sale/use tax compliance process and ensure timely and accurate reporting of such taxes in all appropriate jurisdictions.
• Managing sales/use tax audits and similar transaction tax audits initiated by tax authorities and resolving such audits favorable at the lowest possible tax cost.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements for sales/use and transaction taxes, including the maintenance of tax rates, tax changes, accurate, timely and complete reconciliations of related tax accounts, monitoring and reporting liability under FASB 5 and compliance with SOX *404 requirements and internal controls.
• Ensure financial and accounting systems, tax software and office software are effectively utilized for sales/use tax compliance, research and reporting.
• Advising the Company regarding sales/use tax requirements and issues and increasing awareness within the Company of transaction tax consequences; monitoring sales/use tax legislative and regulatory changes impacting the company; and provide support in the area of tax planning for sales/use and transaction taxes.

• 5+ years sales/use tax experience, preferable in a national. Multi-locational retail or restaurant organization
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Management or Finance
• 3+ years of staff management/development experience
• Demonstrated experience in use of computer system, including experience with accounting and tax software and MS Office software
• Strong technical expertise with accounting for sales/use and transaction taxes (FAS 5)
• Strong technical research skills
• Solid knowledge of accounting principles
• Effective project management, time management and resource management skills, including ability to work under tight deadlines
• Effective negotiating skills
• Problem solving skills, including the ability to identify and solve complex technical and managerial problems
• Must be a solid team player and have the ability to be effective in forming relationships within the company as well as external advisors and tax officials in order to effectively promote the Company's tax position
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of Oracle Cloud, Vertex, Vertex Cloud and Vertex Returns

It is expected that you will primarily perform work at the Wendy's Restaurant Support Center (RSC) (1 Dave Thomas Blvd, Dublin, OH 43017), or at other location(s) as designated by the Company. You are required to work in the office at least 4 days a week. Changes to work location arrangements are subject to managerial approval and business needs.

The base pay range for this position is listed below. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position. The target annual bonus for this role is 20% of annualized base salary, based on actual company and personal performance.
