Overview

SMS is seeking an Intermediate System Admin to support large-scale migration and operations on a large, high-profile DOD contract. The I3TS program provides enterprise-wide IT support to enable DTRA's Information Management & Technology Directorate (ITD) to consolidate, modernize, and continuously innovate the delivery of IT services and mission capabilities to DTRA's internal and external mission partners operating in CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Responsibilities

The Intermediate System Administrator duties will include overall installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. Duties will include management of systems infrastructures, implementing best practices to Identify and recommend system functional specifications, configuration of physical and virtual systems, backup and recovery of IT infrastructure. Support duties may include updating and supporting systems by tuning performance, allocating storage space. Implementing critical patches, reviewing systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.

    Coordinate with PMO and all Tier levels while also maintaining the ability to use knowledge of VMware Horizon View, vSphere, VDI to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
  • Be able to work in a rapid paced environment and must be able to work independently.
  • Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
  • Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Creates, maintains, and implements detailed documentation and maintains standard operating procedures.
  • Application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS.
  • Provides coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level technical staff.


Qualifications

  • BS degree and 4-8 years of overall related experience with a Windows/Linus server environment. Additional experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Extensive experience working with virtual environments using VMware
  • Shell scripting (e.g. bash) and experience in other languages like Perl, Python, and Java.
  • Experience with application of security settings and other commercial best practices such as DISA STIGS.
  • Experience with Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (such as FireEye and McAfee sensors and sandboxes)
  • Experience with Security Incident Event Management (SIEM)
  • Must have at least an active TS/SCI.
  • Currently possess DoD 8750 certification at least IAT level II, e.g. Security+ce.
