Cybersecurity Consultant / vCISO

Location: Physical location anywhere in the continental US.

Work Options: Remote (with some travel expectations to client sites)

Typical Day in the Life

As a Cybersecurity Consultant / vCISO, you will lead clients through the development and execution of cybersecurity strategies that align with business goals, regulatory requirements, and risk tolerance. You will serve as a trusted advisor, helping organizations build and mature their cybersecurity programs, including readiness for frameworks such as CMMC, NIST, HIPAA, and PCI DSS. You will also provide hands-on support across the security lifecycle-from risk assessments and policy development to incident response and compliance audits.

• Act as a virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) for multiple clients, providing strategic leadership and guidance on cybersecurity matters.
  
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and frameworks (e.g., CMMC, GLBA, PCI DSS, FFIEC, NIST, HIPAA) in regulated industries.*
• Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify, prioritize, and mitigate security risks.
  
• Conduct gap assessments and readiness reviews for CMMC compliance.
  
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive cybersecurity programs tailored to clients' unique needs.
  
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to establish cybersecurity policies, procedures, and operational plans including:
  
• System security plans (SSPs)
  
• Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
  
• Provide ongoing advisory services, including risk management, security awareness, and governance practices.*
• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and regulatory changes to deliver informed and proactive recommendations.
  
• Build and maintain client relationships, delivering exceptional service to meet and exceed expectations.
  
• Have a focus on People, Processes, and Technology as well as a more global view of IT Architecture when executing strategies and roadmaps.
  
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert and assist other consultants across the Cybersecurity and technology consulting practice.
  
• Excellent client facing skills, the ability to effectively influence clients and prospects, and excellent communication and presentation skills are critical.
  
• Excellent communication and collaboration with team members, practice areas and clients
  

Who You Are

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred; relevant industry experience will be considered.
  
• Experience supporting CMMC readiness or assessments is preferred; relevant experience working with the Department of Defense (DoD) will be considered.
  
• Minimum of 5 years of experience servicing as a CISO, ISO or vCISO, with experience in regulated industries preferred.
  
• Professional certifications such as CMMC CISSP, CISM CISA, or similar are strongly desired.
  
• Ability to understand and discuss client's business requirements and how they align with different cybersecurity domains and technologies.
  
• You have in-depth knowledge of frameworks and regulations including NIST (Specifically 800-171 and 800-172), CMMC, HIPAA, GLBA, and PCI DSS.
  
• Prior experience working with and presenting to C Level executives, business owners and stakeholders and are effective engaging in technical discussions with non-technical leaders and briefing senior executives on threats in their current environment and industry.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Confident in leading project meetings and working as part of a technical team to design, implement and manage security solutions.
  
• An ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Compensation

Base salary range: $95,000 - $130,000

Our compensation philosophy emphasizes competitive and equitable pay. Eide Bailly complies with all local/state regulations regarding displaying ranges. Final compensation decisions are dependent upon factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
