Job Overview

Tradition. Innovation. A superb faculty. Hundreds of course offerings - and all of this just steps away from the Capitol and Supreme Court. Georgetown Law is an exceptional institution in an enviable location. Students come here from all over the world to study international or tax law, environmental or health care law (just a few of our specialties). They come here for our top-ranked clinics. Most of all, they come because this is the place where theory and practice meet. At Georgetown, students learn the law in the place where laws are made.

The Director of Academic Advising is responsible for academic/curricular advising and policy and program development, with particular focus on our evening division J.D. students. Founded as an evening program in 1870, Georgetown Law has a long tradition of providing quality legal education to working students, and is widely recognized as the premier part-time program in the country. A key member of the J.D. advising team, the Director of Academic Advising has a strong understanding of Georgetown Law's academic policies, degree requirements, and our unrivaled curriculum, including our extensive experiential learning courses, and appreciation for how students in the evening division can best navigate these options. This position's work hours Monday through Thursday are from 12:30 pm-9:30 pm, with standard work hours on Friday. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
  • Individual J.D. student advising, with special responsibility for the unique needs of evening division students.

  • Ensuring compliance with our academic policies and institutional goals and standards.
  • Tracking and monitoring significant developments impacting evening J.D. students, both internally and externally.
  • Identifying and communicating curricular and scheduling needs to help inform course scheduling decisions.
