The Ops Performance & Design Consultant is responsible for supporting the strategy, analysis, design, and implementation of operational performance initiatives that aim to achieve positive and sustainable results. They'll support the Operations, Commercial, and Finance departments to align People, assets and network to improve processes, reduce cost and complexity, and enable and maximize revenue opportunities. The Ops Performance & Design Consultant is analytical and a skilled communicator, who is ready to drive the future of Southwest Airlines.

Job Summary
  • This role is responsible for supporting the strategy, analysis, design, and implementation of operational performance initiatives that aim to achieve positive and sustainable results. Supports Operations, Commercial, and Finance departments to align People, assets, and network to improve processes, reduce cost and complexity, and enable and maximize revenue opportunities. Ensures the Operations perspective is understood and considered as part of Commercial and Enterprise decisions
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to developing strategies and business insights from qualitative and quantitative information
  • Support the structuring of complex business problems and contribute to identifying holistic solutions
  • Distill complex problems and data sets into simple summaries that can be understood by all levels of leadership
  • Identify opportunities through analysis that drive business decisions and long-term strategy
  • Create value through identifying and implementing business improvements
  • Develop well-written presentations that are clear and convey key information, including business cases, roadmaps, and other materials that support alignment efforts
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and lead meetings with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Support special programs and initiatives that arise from unique operational challenges
  • Communicate timelines, risks, issues, and key decisions to multiple stakeholders
  • Facilitate alignment across stakeholders with differing perspectives
  • Build confidence and sustain trusted relationships with key stakeholders
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leader
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Skilled in analyzing and visualizing data to generate insights
  • Advanced skills in tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Skilled in synthesizing information within PowerPoint presentations and delivering them to affected stakeholders
  • Ability to use statistical and mathematical models to draw conclusions
  • Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organization's strategic plan
  • Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Advanced experience and knowledge in:
    • Presenting data-driven insights and recommendations clearly through PowerPoint, dashboards, and storytelling techniques to all levels, including executives
    • Building strong relationships and fostering collaboration across diverse teams and functions
    • Using tools such as SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, or similar to generate insights and visualize results
    • Structuring and helping solve business problems by identifying trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities

Physical Abilities
  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:

  • Competitive market salary from $116,350 per year to $129,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
