The Manager Maintenance supports our Purpose by leading a production workforce on the Technical Operations (Tech Ops) Team consisting of Supervisors and A&P Mechanics located in Baltimore, MD to ensure an on-time operation and compliance of Southwest Airlines aircraft with established policies and procedures. This role promotes a workplace environment focused on Safety, compliance, and Culture. The Manager Maintenance is adaptable and a skilled communicator who looks forward to developing the People of Southwest Airlines.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to Front Line Leadership and Employees, including monitoring trends in shift flow plans, Production productivity, and plan execution
- Assure all work performed is compliant to our program and is in accordance with approved maintenance procedures
- Advise on current and proposed maintenance capabilities
- Coordinate with Maintenance Operations in planning the appropriate workload to provide maximum utilization for SWA aircraft
- Assist the Director or Senior Manager Maintenance in establishing adequate safety and maintenance policies and procedures related to maintenance production
- Monitor productivity and manpower requirements, and coordinates needs with the Director or Senior Manager Maintenance
- Approval of payroll for all hours worked by assigned workgroups
- Approval of Travel and Expenses of assigned workgroups
- Management of assigned Budget
- Assess and approve the need for overtime, coordinating this need with the Senior Manager Maintenance or Director
- Monitor sick leaves and leaves of absence of all assigned personnel and take appropriate action, if needed
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, Leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of People and resources
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Skilled in reading and comprehending technical reports, instructions, and maintenance documents
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Skilled in written and verbal communication and the ability to speak in a group situations
- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, however it does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
- Ability to work in a stressful environment with multiple tasking and time-constraints
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
- Airline Maintenance
- Leadership
Licensing/Certification
- Required: Airframe and Powerplant License
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
- Must be able to lift and move items of up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have the authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established Guidelines
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively for long periods of time
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, holidays, and extended hours
