Job Duties:
The UW BDP is an academic, human body donation program. The study of human anatomy is essential in medical education for various healthcare professions. UW-Madison and partner institutions within Wisconsin, including numerous UW schools and hospitals, depend on these donors for advanced anatomy education and continued training for health professionals. The part-time lab technician position will support the Lead Mortician and additional Program staff in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the lab environment. The primary focus will be on maintenance-related tasks, including sanitizing donor storage areas, assisting with safe transfer of donors, and supporting lab-related maintenance. This position offers a uniquely meaningful and respectful working environment, where every task supports education, research, and the honoring of those who have made the ultimate gift to advancing patient care and medicine. To adequately support the donors, position requires strong attention to detail, respect, and the ability to follow strict safety, ethical, and confidentiality standards. This is a temporary employment opportunity working approximately 50% FTE. School of Medicine and Public Health, Body Donor Program The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), supports SMPH by overseeing all aspects of various health professions education programs: from admissions programs and curricular oversight to student services and multicultural initiatives across our statewide campus. It also is responsible for successfully meeting all national accreditation requirements as well as timely compliance with all health system, school, campus, and legislative policies and regulations. The OAA fosters a professional atmosphere to prepare health care providers and public health professionals at all stages of career development. The UW SMPH Body Donor Program (UWBDP) is an academic, human body donation program. The mission of the UWBDP is to advance the education of health science students (for example medical, physical therapy, physician assistant, nursing), residents in-training, and practicing clinicians. The donors allow the University to provide advanced anatomy training to students entering these health professions. In addition to their anatomical study, the students grow in compassion and empathy, learning to treat their future patients with dignity and respect. Compensation:The starting hourly wage for this position is $25.00 but is negotiable based on
