In this role, you'll investigate, evaluate, and resolve property subrogation claims in an efficient and accurate manner. You'll independently manage a caseload and communicate effectively with policyholders, suppliers, and other stakeholders. You'll leverage your strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills to determine and secure viable routes to recovery. At this level in the subrogation claims representative job family, you'll be assigned to pursue recovery, initiate arbitration, and/or handle litigated files to recover money.
This role will be filled in Stevens Point, WI or Davenport, IA following our hybrid work model. What You'll Do: As a Claims Representative for Property Subrogation, you will:
- Support customers with empathy and understanding, assisting them through difficult situations and effectively communicating the claims process, the ongoing subrogation status, and decisions, including the reasoning behind them.
- Evaluate moderately complex claims involving motor vehicle accidents, workers compensation injuries, or damages to property to determine if subrogation exists and determine recovery opportunities and payments within assigned authority limit.
- Provide prompt subrogation investigation, evaluation, and communication to the claims departments and handle subrogation recovery efforts consistent with the evaluation of the parties' responsibility by obtaining and analyzing all pertinent documentation, i.e., police reports, carrier discovery report, appraisals, scene photographs, and statements as necessary. Work with the claim representative to compile any additional missing information.
- Document all decisions, correspondence, reports, and discussions that occur during the evaluation and investigation of the file.
- File and respond to arbitration filings on applicable claims.
Additionally, you will:
- Obtain and maintain state adjuster licenses as required. Comply with industry regulations, legal requirements, and internal company policies.
- May handle, monitor, and/or assign collection efforts to outside suppliers as appropriate.
- May handle a small volume of lower severity and complexity litigation while working with manager, staff counsel, or defense counsel.
- Learn about detecting potential problems or trends that require additional review, investigation, or research.
- May participate in claim reviews.
- Collaborate with special investigation unit (SIU) as necessary to investigate and mitigate fraud.
- Escalate claims outside of your technical expertise to your manager.
- Coordinate payment of benefits with other insurance carriers if applicable.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.
What it Takes:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
- Insurance experience and/or coursework preferred
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience
