The Department of Finance & Procurement is responsible for ensuring that the county's financial management and accounting systems are maintained appropriately and that county agencies and the public receive information in a timely manner. The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations manages internal auditing and compliance, financial accounting, financial and budgetary reporting, internal controls, payroll, and accounts payable.

Job Summary

The Division of Accounting, Finance and Operations is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our team as a Senior Accountant. This is a temporary position during the migration from Oracle EBS to Oracle Cloud. The duration of this temporary position is expected to be one year. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and will be responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting for the County's capital projects, grants, and debt. This includes project set up, analysis of capital and grant funds and revenue sources, project classification and close out, reconciliations, and assisting in the annual audit, year-end close, and financial reporting process. Additional responsibilities include collaborating cross departmentally on complex project issues, providing support for ad-hoc projects and analysis, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, researching and preparing work papers and analysis to support the completion of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and contributing to other department areas as needed or assigned.
This is a hybrid position with some telework opportunities.
Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; four (4) years of related work experience in professional level accounting, preferably in a government accounting setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA, CPFO, and VGFOA certification and completion of GAAP courses preferred. Experience working with a major ERP system such as Oracle is preferred.
