This position is funded for 1 year(s); continuation past 1 year(s) will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.POSITION SPECIFICS The Department of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University is seeking a skilled Research Technologist to serve in the Genomics section of the Animal Diagnostic Laboratory, whose purpose is to protect animal health, human health, and ensure food safety. Responsibilities: Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with an excellent possibility of re-funding based on performance. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS If filled as Research Technologist - Animal Sciences - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Research Technologist - Animal Sciences - Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education. Required Certifications: NoneQualifications: A bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, or a related life sciences field is preferred, with at least one year of practical experience in molecular biology, preferably in a diagnostic laboratory setting. Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing for detecting and characterizing bacterial and viral pathogens is highly preferred.
