Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.
The Finance team in the Corporate Finance department is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to provide the management team with actionable insights for decision making. The Finance team is also responsible for financial oversight related to risk, capital and liquidity.
The Director- Finance will report to the AVP Finance and be responsible for assisting with the organization's financial planning and analysis which includes preparation of the combined financial reporting package and the quarterly Finance Committee / Board materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Leads the preparation of the combined financial reporting package for senior management:
- Prepares and distributes reporting calendar and communicates deliverables
- Collaborates with the Finance team on the reporting requirements
- Liaises with Accounting on reporting requirements
- Collaborates with Finance Director Technology to develop and maintain financial reports in the financial planning tool
- Performs initial review of the reporting package
- Drives continuous improvement in management reporting by leveraging business intelligent tools
- Supports AVP Finance with the preparation of the Finance Committee / Board materials:
- Prepares and maintains standard reporting templates for the quarterly CFO and Finance Committee presentations
- Collaborates with Director Finance Technology in developing and maintaining standard financial reports required for Finance Committee / Board
- Performs initial review of the materials to ensure consistency and accuracy
- Supports Finance team in establishing highly effective business partnering with the Business Unit Managers:
- Collaborates with the Financial Analysis team in effectively troubleshooting issues that may delay providing information timely
- Collaborates with AVP Finance and Financial Analysis team in identifying and developing analysis (i.e., trend analysis) based on KPIs identified by the business
- Leads ad hoc analysis requested by management
- Collaborates with AVP Finance and Financial Analysis team to standardize financial processes
- Continuously identifies opportunities to drive automation in financial reporting
- Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of relationship building and meaningful collaboration.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS required, in Finance/Accounting preferred; MBA preferred
- Experienced in insurance, retirement benefits or publishing, preferred but not required
- 10+ years of financial planning and analysis work experience required

Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Currently, hybrid work environment, which requires working in CPG's office Tuesdays through Thursdays and flexibility to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000
