QIAGEN is seeking an experienced and results-driven professional to serve as Director of Sales for the Discovery Research Accounts reporting directly to the VP of Sales for the Americas. A highly motivated professional will bring a combination of education, experience, and dynamic leadership to drive success in the research and bioinformatics sectors. This individual will manage a team of 6 experienced sales professionals to provide both leadership and technical sales expertise, helping to drive projects to successful completion while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Additionally, this individual will work closely with supporting teams to achieve optimum collaboration and revenue growth with a focus on selling bioinformatics software to top research accounts in the US and Canada. The primary responsibilities of this role include account expansion, cross-selling additional product and services capabilities, and ensuring year-over-year (YoY) territory growth. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building and nurturing relationships, introducing new products, and achieving ambitious sales targets within the biotech, pharma, academic and government sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

- Account Growth Strategy: Develop and execute strategic account plans to drive expansion, cross-selling, and overall growth within the specific sectors.

- Relationship Building: Establish and foster strong, long-lasting relationships with key stakeholders within existing and new accounts. Understand client needs, challenges, and objectives to provide tailored solutions.

- Product Knowledge: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Qiagen's bioinformatics software and its applications. Effectively communicate product features and benefits to address customer requirements and challenges.

- Sales Target Achievement: Meet and exceed annual sales targets through effective account management, solution selling, and negotiation skills.

- Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs. Provide feedback to internal teams to contribute to product development and marketing strategies.

- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, product development, and customer support, to ensure a seamless customer experience and alignment with company objectives.

- Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions, sales activities, and market trends. Provide regular reports to management on account performance and sales forecasts.


Position Requirements

- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or additional certifications are a plus.

- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of successful project delivery. Additionally, successful sales experience in the pharmaceutical and Bioinformatics space, with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.

- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience in coaching and developing team members.

- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including its challenges, regulations, and trends.

- Relationship Management: Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with key stakeholders.

- Solution Selling: Proven experience in solution selling and introducing new products to existing accounts.

- Mentorship: Offer guidance, training, and support to team members, helping them develop their skills and advance their careers.

- Leadership: Lead by example, demonstrating best practices and promoting a positive, collaborative work environment.

- Team Collaboration: Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.

- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

- Location: The location can be anywhere in the US, preferably on the East Coast (NJ, PA, NY, MA).

The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000- $165,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate's experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes a bonus plan and generous benefits.
