The Project Manager for Quality at MGB Enterprise Emergency Medicine (EM) reports to the Vice Chair of Quality and the Assistant CMO for MGB Enterprise EM. MGB Enterprise Emergency Medicine is a large complex department-across the enterprise, emergency care is delivered across 10 EDs to over 530,000 patients annually. The Project Manager has the responsibility of assisting the Vice Chair of Quality/Asst CMO and the Administrative Director of Quality for Enterprise EM in the execution of the core MGB Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO) functions, including:

This role requires exceptional project management skills, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep understanding of healthcare quality improvement. The Project Manager will manage and lead the Department's Quality and Safety Program, working closely with physicians, nursing, and administrative leaders to support and advance quality programs, processes, and initiatives.
- An advanced degree in business or healthcare administration is desirable but not required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible leadership in a hospital setting or large health care organization with proven leadership and management skills.
- Knowledge and expertise within the department are preferred, but not required. Knowledge and expertise in department organization and clinical care are required.
- Capable of working in an extremely complex academic medical center as part of a large integrated delivery system with many matrixed relationships
- Must be a skilled communicator and team builder.
- Exemplary interpersonal communication skills are required to interact effectively with senior management and physicians on sensitive political and confidential issues.
General Responsibilities:
- Supports the Vice Chair of Quality/Assistant CMO and Administrative Director of Quality in advancing strategic quality goals and performance improvement initiatives across MGB Enterprise Emergency Medicine.
- Develops and documents long-term plans to enhance quality and safety across MGB Enterprise Emergency Medicine under the guidance of the Vice Chair of Quality/Assistant CMO and Administrative Director of Quality.
- Maintains a comprehensive list of ongoing and planned projects, working with department leadership to prioritize and implement key initiatives.
- Supports and monitors progress toward individual quality and integration goals established by MGB EM Quality leadership.
- Provides high-level project support to design and implement quality improvement interventions and programs in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and administrative leaders throughout MGB Enterprise Emergency Medicine.
- Supports clinical communications related to quality and safety initiatives across the MGB system.
- Serves as the administrative lead for the AMC EM Mortality, Morbidity, and Improvement (MM&I) Conference and the MGB Quality & Safety Grand Rounds.
- Collaborates with MGB and EM data analysts to collect and analyze data that informs and supports Q&S decision-making.
- Leads the workflow for reviewing, approving, and maintaining policies and guidelines for MGB and AMC EM.
- Manages applicable AMC or MGB Quality Incentive Programs, recommending meaningful metrics and initiatives for inclusion. Monitors results and provides ongoing recommendations to improve performance.
Credentialing:
- Supports the Vice Chair/Asst CMO or their delegate in managing the process of credentialing and privileging staff.
Patient Experience:
- Assists in the review of NRC patient experience data across MGB Enterprise EM and supports quality review.
- Coordinate alignment of patient experience data review and tracking workflows across MGB Enterprise EM.
Health Equity:
- Assists the Vice Chair of Quality, Assistant CMO, in the implementation of system-wide health equity activities.
Well-Being:
- Reviews findings of the Safety Culture Surveys and works with ED physician, nursing, and administrative leadership to understand results, identify trends, and propose and implement projects and recommendations.
- Provides project management support for the implementation of initiatives and programs related to well-being within the Department.
Professionalism and Performance:
- Supports alignment of the OPPE and FPPE processes across the MGB Enterprise EM.
- Manages central tracking and reporting for OPPE and FPPE.
- Provides project management support to the Vice Chair of Quality/Assistant CMO or their delegate in managing concerns in clinician knowledge/skills/ability/behavior, as well as ensuring execution and compliance with corrective action plans and performance improvement activities.
Other:
- Provides project management and general administrative support to other EM operations initiatives as needed
