ViiV Healthcare is a global specialty HIV company, the only one that is 100% focused on researching and delivering new medicines for people living with, and at risk of, HIV. ViiV is highly mission-driven in our unrelenting commitment to being a trusted partner for all people living with and affected by HIV. Our aim is to think, act, and connect differently through a focus on education on and treatment for HIV. We go to extraordinary lengths to deliver the sorts of breakthroughs, both in treatments, care solutions and communities, that really count. We go beyond the boundaries of medicine by taking a holistic approach to HIV through developing and supporting sustainable community programs and improving access to care. We are fully committed to push through every challenge until HIV/AIDS is eradicated. ViiV has played a significant part in delivering breakthroughs that have turned HIV into a manageable health condition. We offer the largest portfolio of HIV medicines available anywhere, and we continue our work to cater for the widest possible range of needs in response to the HIV epidemic. ViiV healthcare has a robust clinical pipeline, currently encompassing multiple compounds under investigation. Complex clinical development programs are in place to progress these new medicines, and delivery is critical to our mission and overarching, long-term business success. These clinical development programs are run by many centrally-based study teams and conducted via hundreds of research sites across North America. Utilization of the field-based medical affairs team to maintain a strong conduit between these central groups and the field based sites has been critical to efficient conduct of clinical trials and progression of clinical development programs. Core to this efficient model has been the assignment of a single, medical affairs point of contact for the multiple internal stakeholders to coordinate appropriate clinical study-related communications and actions as well as efforts of the field MSL team in relation to clinical studies. With the increased outsourcing of ViiV clinical trial support in recent years, investigators and research site personnel must navigate a more complex network of contacts across the different companies. Currently, the research site personnel are required to interact with the following company representatives at a minimum, depending on which company is supporting ViiV study conduct. The US Medical Affairs Scientific Director, Research will be responsible for coordinating Medical Affairs (MSL) activities related to clinical trial support as identified by study teams and endorsed by NAMA LT, act as the conduit for ViiV investigators and research site staff to expedite conflict resolution via escalation to and collaboration with internal owners (ViiV, GSK, PPD), identify and gain internal alignment on strategies and/or processes to address underlying causes of conflict, inefficiencies and/or communication breakdown, facilitate Collaborative, ISS, implementation science, and HO/RWE research as identified by NAMA LT, and provide investigator insights (Voice of Researcher) to assist in protocol development.
