Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Manager, BD Technology & Data. This position can be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV), with consideration given for 100% remote US locations.

The Objective:
As Sr. Manager, BD Technology & Data, you will have senior responsibility for leading and optimizing Orrick's business development (BD) technology stack and guiding the department's data quality and governance standards and practices. You will play a pivotal role in leveraging technology to enhance our marketing efforts, streamline processes, and drive data-driven decision-making. You will collaborate with key Firm departments and leadership to execute on the Firm's BD technology and data strategy.

What will I do?
The Sr. Manager, BD Technology & Data will support the Director, BD Operations, Technology & Data Management in the administration of a department that delivers innovative and effective technology solutions, data governance, and knowledge management to support the Firm's business development goals. You will work closely with the Digital Transformation and Data (DTD) team, IT, VMO, and subject matter experts to ensure the Firm's BD technology initiatives are aligned with strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

BD Technology Strategy & Implementation

  • Oversee the implementation of new business development technologies and initiatives, ensuring timely and on-budget delivery.
  • Examine existing technologies and initiatives, assessing viability, usage, and metrics in conjunction with DTD, Digital Solutions, and subject matter experts; recommend strategies in line with Firm architecture.
  • Implement a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with business goals, with an emphasis on influencing positive behavioral change.
  • In collaboration with the Digital Solutions team, evaluate, select, and manage marketing technology tools and platforms.
  • Oversee integration of various marketing technologies to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.
  • Optimize and maintain performance of marketing technology systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and fully operational.

Data Governance & Quality

  • Co-lead the BD Data Steward program, ensuring BD-specific data governance and data quality programming is aligned with Firm-wide initiatives.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement of data governance and quality programs.
  • Monitor and report on performance and ROI of BD technology investments; identify opportunities for data-enriched reporting to meet strategic needs.

Training, Support & Collaboration

  • Provide training, support, and guidance to the BD team on effective use of marketing technologies.
  • Work with CRM subject matter experts to ensure technology-led CRM requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with DTD and IT to evaluate, develop, and maintain proper technology architecture platforms, including knowledge management.

Operational Leadership

  • In close coordination with the Sr. Manager, BD Operations, ensure the BD Operations, Technology & Data Management team is coordinated in line with Firm strategy, bringing operational and technological stability to the BD Department.
  • Ability to work in the office and travel as requested; ability to work outside of normal working hours as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Relevant certifications in marketing technology, digital marketing, process alignment, data governance, and/or data analytics are a plus.
  • Ten years of marketing technology or digital marketing experience, with a proven track record of managing and optimizing BD technology stacks.
  • Strong background in data governance, reporting, and knowledge management is highly desired.
  • Extensive experience with marketing technology platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead teams of diverse people.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a record of follow-up.
  • Proven success as a highly energetic and team-oriented leader with the ability to foster collaboration and adapt to a changing environment, approaching challenges with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm, and innovation.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to attorneys and staff.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • California Major Markets* $140,000 - $190,000
  • New York City $140,000 - $190,000
  • National $110,000 - $155,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
