Job Title: Accounts Payable Manager

FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Divisional Finance Director

Schedule: Standard Office Hours
Supervises: Accounts Payable Clerks

Rate of Pay: $64,001.60 annually

Closing Date: 08/01/2025

Function:

The Accounts Payable Manager is a working manager and is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable Department, including the daily processing, verification, posting and timely payment of all invoices and credit memos. The APM is responsible for the maintenance of all accounts payable records related to the operation of multiple corps sites in the Intermountain Division. The APM will also be responsible for the preparation and submission of all financial reports required by The Salvation Army in accordance with established policy and procedure and to keep Salvation Army management informed of the current financial condition of the operation. Limited travel will be required for review of internal audit site compliance of established Divisional internal controls for accounts payable processes, in addition to accounts payable processes. Interpersonal and training skills are essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Maintenance of the Accounts payable modules to include responsibility for month end closings and the reconciliation of the accounts payable with the balance sheet accounts.
* Responsible for assisting the Divisional Finance Director with the Divisional internal audit review of Corps/Programs.
* Responsible for the accuracy of all Accounts Payable functions to include the entry of all invoices and payments in a timely manner.
* Responsible for meeting all Month End deadlines, as well as any interim deadlines requested by administration.
* Responsible for the accuracy of account numbers.
* Responsible for the accurate Filing of all pe1tinent accounting documents in a timely and efficient manner.
* Responsible for the preparation of materials requested in connection with Audits conducted both by independent outside auditors as well as Salvation Army internal auditors.
* Ensure all staff is current in their workload.
* Ensure the accuracy of the work and its compliance with GAAP.
* Assist in performance evaluations of staff in Centralized Accounts Payable department.
* Responsible for ongoing training of the payable system in the Intermountain Division.
* Supervise staff to ensure they are working at their peak performance and give suggestions for improvement.
* Maintain a positive work environment with high morale and a focus to service.
* Special Projects as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications:

* Education/Experience/Qualifications

o Preferred - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related subject from an accredited college, five or more years of "hands on" full cycle Accounts Payable experience utilizing a midsize or larger computer accounting software system, five or more years of supervisory experience, and two or more years of training experience with new employees on company software, procedures and policies.

o Required -Associate of Arts degree in Accounting from an accredited college program, three years of "hands on" full cycle Accounts Payable experience utilizing a midsize computer accounting software system, previous supervisory experience and training of new employees. Appropriate professional experience may be considered in lieu of education.



  • Skills:


o Ability to speak and write the English language with professional level skill is required.
o The Ability to proactively interact with both coworkers and the Manager in a positive manner is important.
o The ability to show respect for all other employees, associates, and clients that are aligned to the goals and objectives of The Salvation Army.
o The Ability to present oneself in a professional manner and maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in relation to information and documentation is essential.
o Ability to develop a general understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Principles) and FASB (Financial Accounting Standards Board) standards as it pertains to The Salvation Army.
o The ability to operate I 0-Key by touch and other standard office equipment in an efficient manner is necessary.
o The ability to multi-task in a time sensitive manner is essential.
o Software-Related Skills -Accounting system, Donor Management system, Microsoft Software, IP Office Phone Manager. Ability to use any potential software programs with basic training.

* Driving:

o If the position requires driving:

* A minimum age of 21 (for insurance provision) and possession of a valid in-state driver's license is required.
* An MVR will be processed every year in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.

* Background Check

o Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army's policies.

* Ability to lift 25 pounds.
