The Corporate Controller leads the accounting operations for a dynamic mid-size manufacturing company. This role is responsible for General Accounting & the financial close process, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Billing functions, while also driving key financial projects and process improvements. The Corporate Controller manages internal stakeholder relationships, such as operations, sales, business development, and the executive leadership team, as well as interactions with external parties including auditors, insurers, bankers, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies. The Corporate Controller is also involved with corporate strategy, including planning and executing acquisitions and integrations, system upgrades and deployments, and updates to the presentation of financial information, such as the general ledger and business unit hierarchies.

The Corporate Controller position at Ascentek is a unique hands-on role which provides a blend of engagement in strategy, hands-on responsibilities for complex transactions/accounting, and an opportunity to develop and mentor a great team. You will have input and influence on the company's important financial decisions and strategies that fuel our company's continued success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership:



  • Demonstrate excellent leadership behaviors and competencies consistent with Ascentek culture and values.
  • Manage the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the accounting department.
  • Attract, develop and inspire talent within the finance and accounting organization.
  • Serve as a visionary agent to drive process improvement across the organization.


Strategic Partnership and Analysis:



  • Key team member for acquisitions and integrations, managing both the accounting aspects as well as the day-to-day integrations of the target entity into Ascentek
  • Cross-functional collaboration with sales, business development, and IT to determine appropriate technology to deploy to streamline operations and accounting functions, such as variance analysis
  • Leads projects related to core business processes, such as manufacturing accounting and streamlining manual journal entries to using automated processes
  • Manage cash flow, including optimizing accounts receivable collection processes and managing payment strategy, including customer and vendor onboarding and customer credit reviews.
  • Interpreting and summarizing the financial results to provide insights to senior leadership
  • Strong command of account reconciliations and reviewing the underlying transaction detail
  • Develop and continuously evaluate shared service cost allocations to correctly assign costs to each business
  • Partner with the Director of FP&A for preparation and review of the monthly financial results.


Accounting Operations:



  • Oversee, and participate in, the timely and accurate completion of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close process and financial reporting processes.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are completed accurately, occur in accordance with management's authorization, and are timely and accurately recorded in the company's accounting systems.
  • Develop processes and people while implementing technology solutions that are supportive of creating an accounting organization that is scalable for future inorganic and organic growth.
  • Maintain detailed subsidiary documentation on monthly basis to support general ledger account balances.
  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and controls.
  • Maintain ERP system (JD Edwards) to efficiently and accurately process transactions
  • Assist the CFO as may be necessary in the processing of accounting and financial activities.


Internal Controls:



  • Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures for the enterprise, including communication and training across the enterprise to ensure organizational understanding and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's accounting policies, and that the policies and financial statements are compliant with GAAP and any other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage annual financial audit and relationship with external audit partners.
  • Oversee tax compliance and tax provision, working with external tax partners.
  • Research and summarize relevant accounting guidance to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Innovate policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.

  • Perform other duties as required.





Education:



  • Four-year accounting degree required.


Experience and/or Training:



  • 10-15 years of experience in an Accounting/Finance function, showing progression, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • 5-8 years of experience leading and developing high performing teams; demonstrated effective leadership skills.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions as well as multiple business entities/divisions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Results-driven approach with the ability to operate independently in making decisions and implementing change.
  • Experienced in collaborating across departments/business units and driving results through collaboration.
  • Superior leadership skills with enthusiasm, initiative, and a passion for results.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability, with a focus on process automation.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, customers and vendors.
  • Ability to travel to outstate locations occasionally, less than 10%.


Licenses/Certificates:



  • CPA, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.


Technology/Equipment:



  • Understanding of transactions within an integrated ERP system (JD Edwards experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of data structures and how they reflect underlying business processes
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft tools, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Advanced Excel and Database management skills.
  • Experience with financial reporting tools and ability to create reports and interpret their output

The employee is continuously required to perform comprehensive reasoning, decision making and math skills.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

      The anticipated hiring range for the role you are applying for is between $170,000 and $200,000 annually. This anticipated hiring range is based on several factors, and subject to increase based on the below:



      1. Experience and qualifications: The depth of relevant experience and specific skills you bring to the position.
      2. Education and certifications: Any additional qualifications that enhance your ability to succeed in the role.
      3. Market and industry benchmarks: We compare compensation packages with industry standards to ensure we are competitive.
