Position Summary:

The SOP Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, coordination, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the domains of safety, surety, health, security, and environmental compliance. The SOP coordinator will promote worksite or product safety by applying knowledge of industrial processes, mechanics, chemistry, psychology, and industrial health and safety laws. This role ensures the organization meets applicable federal, state, and local regulations by conducting regular audits, inspections, and planning initiatives, with a strong focus on workplace safety and risk mitigation.

Health and Safety Engineers, Except Mining Safety Engineers and Inspectors, and industrial product safety engineers are the ideal candidate. This role is contingent upon contract award.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Assist in drafting, updating, and maintaining SOPs related to workplace safety, health, security, environmental protection, and surety practices.





  • Coordinate and schedule safety and environmental audits and inspections in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.





  • Collect and analyze data from inspections and audits to identify non-compliance, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on implementation.





  • Ensure all SOPs are accessible, up to date, and properly communicated to relevant personnel.





  • Support training initiatives related to safety, emergency response, environmental procedures, and security protocols.





  • Monitor and track the status of compliance metrics and provide regular reports to management.





  • Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and development of preventative strategies.





  • Serve as a liaison between departments to ensure consistent application and understanding of SOPs.





  • Maintain organized records of inspections, training logs, safety meetings, and corrective action plans.




Qualifications:




  • High School Diploma or GED required





  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a safety, compliance, or industrial operations environment.





  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other relevant regulatory guidelines.





  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.





  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.





  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.





  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.




Preferred Skills:




  • Additional training or certification in occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, or related field preferred.





  • Experience in conducting audits or inspections in manufacturing, industrial, or laboratory settings.





  • Basic understanding of hazard communication, safety data sheets (SDS), and emergency response procedures.





  • Knowledge of risk assessment tools and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 5S, root cause analysis).




Work Environment & Physical Requirements:




  • Ability to work in both office and industrial environments.





  • May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, or hazardous materials (PPE provided as necessary).





  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; walking or standing for extended periods during site inspections.
