Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes. ThisLicensed Practical Nursefor theDepartment of Medicinewill receive patients in the Dermatology clinic in order to ensure the effective delivery of service. RESPONSIBILITIES: Greet and direct patients to exam room. Provide patient/family teaching and discharge instructions to meet learning/discharged needs as identified by RN. Provides and maintains safe environment for patients/families through preventive and interventional measures. Able to set priorities, problem solve and use proper judgment in difficult situations and be flexible in non-emergent situations. Documents direct patient care as per MMC policies and procedures. Responsible and accountable for following MMC guidelines. Participates, practices and promotes continuous quality improvement. Communicates effectively with patients/families and members of the health care team. Sterilize instruments and equipment using the autoclave. Order and maintain medications and supplies to par level for site/s. Ensure exam rooms are appropriately, cleaned and stocked each session and between patients. Collect and properly label specimens as per MMC policy. Maintain specimen(blood,biopsy) logbooks and report abnormal results to MD. The shift for this position is 8:30am-5:00pm Monday - Friday. This position requires travelling to other sites as needed and work mandatory overtime based on the operational needs of the practice sites REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma/GED required New York State License for Practical Nurse and current registration to practice as an LPN inNew York State required Minimum one year experience preferred Basic Life Support required Effective English communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal. Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval system. Additional education required by specialty areas/patient care locations. Ability to deal effectively with public and medical staff.Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills. Automated clinical information system Personal Computer,Telefax,Photocopier,Telephone Centrifuge,EKG Machine,Sterilization process and/or Autoclave Machine where applicable.
