About the Job
We are seeking to recruit a full-time Researcher 1 to build data pipelines and assist with rodent experiments as needed. A breakdown of time would include the following:

Data science and programming (60%): Build analysis codes in Python, Matlab, or R for data analysis of cellular signals. Convert or tweak existing codes as needed. This would be performed independently with quality assessment provided by the mentorship team.

Mouse surgeries (20%): Perform intracranial injections or probe implants after receiving training.

Mouse perfusion and histology (10%): Perform transcardial perfusion after receiving training.

Attending lab meetings and educational events, or meeting with the mentorship team (10%): Includes preparing reports and demonstrations for original code or modified code.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be included in the application materials

Required Qualifications:
-BA/BS in a scientific discipline or a combination of education and work experience to equal at least four years
-Some familiarity with programming (formal or informal training)

Preferred Qualifications:
A preferred candidate would have an educational background in biology and data science, demonstrated by
-A major or minor in Neuroscience or a related field of biology (BS or BA)
-A major or minor in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or similar (BS or BA)

A preferred candidate would have some experience performing biology tasks
-Rodent handling
-Tissue processing and histological techniques
-Familiarity with surgical techniques

A preferred candidate would have some experience performing programming and data analytics tasks
-Ability to perform basic programming in R, python, or Matlab
-Knowledge of statistics
-Experience performing analyses

Neuroscience is the scientific study of the nervous system. It is an interdisciplinary science that collaborates with other fields such as chemistry, computer science, engineering, linguistics, mathematics, medicine and allied disciplines, philosophy, physics, and psychology.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20 - $24 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 75%-100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
