Senior Manager, Global Forecasting

Position Summary:

This position will support short and long-term forecasting efforts for Apellis' Finance and Commercial

organization, Strategy Leadership Teams, and Business Development opportunities by providing

analytical modeling expertise and strategic thought partnership.

The position will report to the Director of Global Forecasting in the Finance organization. In this role,

you will lead forecasting efforts to support EMPAVELI and SYFOVRE, including a potential launch of

EMPAVELI into nephrology indications. You will partner effectively with other functions (Sales and

Marketing, Business Intelligence, Supply Chain, Business Development) and external partners to

identify logical and defendable forecast assumptions and support the strategic and financial planning

process.

Forecasting responsibilities include constructing and updating forecast models utilizing current

forecasting and statistical modeling techniques, facilitation of multiple forecast updates throughout

the year with cross-functional business partners, and ongoing assessment of performance versus

forecast for commercial products EMPAVELI and SYFOVRE.

Success in this role is dependent on the candidate being highly proactive. The individual should be

comfortable interacting with senior executives and working in a fast-paced and agile environment.

Excellent analytics and presentation skills are required. High-level critical and strategic thinking is

essential for success.

Location: Hybrid (Waltham, MA) or Remote (U.S. based)

Key Responsibilities Include:



  • Build and own the short-term and long-term forecasting models for EMPAVELI and SYFOVRE.
  • Support the upcoming launch of EMPAVELI in nephrology.
  • Prepare forecasts for pipeline, LCM, and other emerging opportunities for Apellis.
  • Effectively collaborate with a broad set of global business stakeholders (including Business
  • Intelligence, Global Commercial Strategy, US Sales & Marketing, ex-US affiliate partners,
  • Value & Access, Finance, CMC, Business Development among others) to inform trends in the forecast, understand business performance, and to help guide the overall commercial business outlook.
  • Accountable for generating, presenting, defending, and maintaining forecasts of products
    and markets with a high degree of precision and insight.
  • Articulate and document assumptions and risks/opportunities for stakeholder information
    and alignment.
  • Act as an objective strategic thought partner to the business; provide strategic recommendations to help guide the business and incorporate variables based on insights from competitive landscape, patient journey and treatment algorithms across therapeutic areas.
  • Support the Finance Leadership Team and Commercial partners through various forecasting cycles, business reviews and reconciliation exercises.
  • Ensure accuracy of forecasts through industry standard accuracy and bias metrics; identify corrective actions as appropriate.
  • Serve as the key point of contact/strategic partner for multiple therapeutic Brand Leads across a wide range of asset/portfolio questions.
  • Track and assess internal forecasts versus external analyst expectations and provide insights to leadership to inform external communications.
  • Provide support and analytical rigor to ad-hoc requests from various functions related to the forecast that can arise in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.



Education, Registration & Certification:

Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred

Experience:



  • 5-7+ years of relevant business experience in market research, forecasting, strategic planning and/or management consulting.
  • Previous experience in marketing, sales, finance, or businessanalytics is preferred
  • Experience working with Commercial data in a biotech industry preferred
  • Demonstrated evidence of success working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment; able to build strong relationships across many functions within an organization

  • Expertise required in building dynamic forecast models in Excel
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Must be comfortable presenting to wide range of stakeholders including executive leadership
  • Well organized, analytical, creative, and strategic thinker capable of generating creative
  • concepts and evolving them into action plans to support strategic goals and drive results
  • Innate sense of curiosity and drive to deliver results
