Assistant Director, Chinese Jewish Conversation and Revel

Position Summary:



The Assistant Director of the Chinese Jewish Conversation (CJC) and Revel has a dual role. Most of their time will be devoted to CJC, with responsibility for programming, marketing, website, social media and advertisement, budget, and supervision of other staff members and graduate assistants. Additionally, the position entails providing administrative support, especially in social medial, for Revel programs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This position requires an individual not only with advanced Chinese (Mandarin) speaking proficiency, but also intimate knowledge of Chinese education and business culture as well as social media and ability to forge connections with educational institutions and professionals in China.



Position Responsibilities:



A. CJC Responsibilities:



  • Manage Academic Programs


    • Assist in developing CJC MA program and online courses for Chinese students
    • Assist Chinese students in the application and registration processes
    • Advise Chinese students while they are taking courses and
    • In securing their transcripts and recommendations upon graduation


  • Marketing

    • Develop advertising strategies (including social media-see next item) to promote CJC academic programs.
    • Identify relevant educations companies (aka "student recruiters") that can assist CJC in recruiting students.
    • Establish contact with administrators and professors at Chinese universities and High Schools to establish educational cooperation agreements.


  • Oversee Website, Social media & Advertisement

    • Manage the CJC website and blog - in both English Chinese
    • Develop content for CJC on Chinese social media (Douyin, XiaoHongShu, BiliBili)
    • Formulate and design print and online advertisements for CJC academic programs
    • Find new outlets for CJC marketing through Chinese social media


  • Budget

    • Advise the CJC Director on efficient use of budgetary resources for
    • Social media design
    • Promotion through "influencers"
    • Translation into Chinese
    • Payment of CJC graduate assistants


  • Supervision of other staff members and graduate assistants

    • Supervise the CJC communications specialist
    • Assist in hiring, training, and supervising YU graduate assistants who will assist in the design and translation work for item 3 above.




B. Revel responsibilities



  • Manage Revel's social media: Website, Blog, Facebook, Instagram
  • Develop marketing strategies & webpages for new Revel programs: Korean Program & Philos Program
  • Assist in planning of and overseeing Revel events, including year-end reception: Interface with Events, MarCom, ITS, Facilities; Manage Maccabuy & Live25 systems; Promote Revel events on social media.
  • Communications & Marketing: Work with MarCom to communicate with students and the community to promote Revel academic programs, news and events and to publicize faculty & alumni achievements



Experience & Educational Background:




  • Bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred
  • 3 years of administrative experience, preferably in a higher educational institution



Skills & Competencies:




  • Advanced Chinese language proficiency
  • Understanding of Chinese Social media landscape
  • Knowledge of Chinese education and business culture
  • Ability to forge connections in China
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively track time and resources to prioritize own work assignments
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and produce quality work from conception to completion on assigned projects



Salary Range:



$35 per hour - $36 per hour
