POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Buyer is a key member of the staff, responsible for the planning and purchasing of direct materials used in production. This position works with select suppliers to ensure on time delivery at competitive pricing, while managing optimal inventory levels.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Collaborating with various internal departments to ensure that they fulfill all customer requests
  • Maintain a positive relationship with suppliers, ensuring that goods and services are delivered on time and meet quality standards. This included weekly meetings for open orders and potential expedites needed.
  • Processing requisitions and updating the customer aka external customers and internal customers as in Engineering and Management on status of orders, arrival of parts or delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, Lead times, order policy, safety stock, cost savings, including invoices and receipts.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as Engineering, Management and Finance, to understand their supply needs and ensure that procurement aligns with the organizational goals.
  • Review MRP output daily to balance demand and supply of all assigned items.
  • Release new orders to cover demand.
  • Organized, self-starter, problem solver, team player and the willingness to learn and look for process improvements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's degree preferred; APICS, CPSM, or Supply Chain Certification is a plus
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in procurement or a related industry
  • Experience in supply chain management and manufacturing operations
  • High level of knowledge related to lean manufacturing preferred
  • ERP (M3 or other) experience preferred * Proficient in Excel Microsoft office
