What is the role of the Manager, Talent Development?

As the Manager of Talent Development, you will lead and evolve all learning and leadership development initiatives for The GIANT Company. You will manage and coach a high-performing team, while also being a key contributor to strategies that shape how our team members grow, facilitate high-impact learning experiences, and anticipate future capabilities needed in a dynamic retail environment. In this pivotal role, you'll also serve as the change management lead for key HR initiatives, helping team members navigate and embrace transformation.

This role requires exceptional cross-functional collaboration and the ability to lead without formal authority. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, seeks input across teams, and demonstrates a sincere interest in understanding diverse perspectives to co-create meaningful solutions.

What will I do as the Manager, Talent Development at The GIANT Company?

Learning Strategy & Development:
  • Lead the design and execution of enterprise learning strategies aligned with business priorities.
  • Build frameworks that support onboarding, upskilling, and future-ready learning for team members and leaders.
  • Anticipate emerging learning technologies and integrate innovative solutions (AI, adaptive learning, etc.).

Leadership Development:
  • Develop scalable programs to support leadership growth across all levels, from first-time supervisors to senior leaders.
  • Facilitate leadership learning experiences and high-potential development programs.
  • Partner with HRBPs and business leaders to assess talent needs and support succession readiness.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure learning initiatives reflect the voices, challenges, and aspirations of the teams we serve.

Change Management:
  • Serve as the HR change management lead on major initiatives and transformations.
  • Create and implement change roadmaps, communications, and success metrics that support adoption and sustainability.
  • Use Prosci or other frameworks to prepare stakeholders and guide successful transitions.
  • Lead through influence - enabling change by inspiring trust and building collaborative coalitions across functions.

Learning Platform Oversight & Program Effectiveness
  • Lead the management of internal learning platforms and vendor partnerships, including oversight of the LMS and team learning sites to ensure seamless access and functionality.
  • Continuously enhance learning experiences by analyzing engagement, completion data, and user feedback to drive platform and content improvements.
  • Track and report on key learning metrics, including program performance, KPIs, and ROI, to assess impact and inform strategic decisions.
  • Conduct ongoing needs assessments to identify skill gaps and future learning opportunities, aligning development initiatives with business goals.

What do we expect you to bring to the table?
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organizational Psychology, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in L&D, organizational development, or HR.
  • Strong facilitation and instructional design skills, including for both in-person and virtual delivery.
  • Expertise in change management; certification such as Prosci is a plus.
  • Familiarity with learning platforms and e-learning tools such as Articulate Rise 360.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across levels and departments, lead through influence, and engage others in meaningful dialogue.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and inspire.

What are the details?
  • Hybrid Remote: This position is based out of Carlisle, Pa. and will require 3 days a week in the office.
  • Reporting: The Manager Talent Development reports into the Director Talent Culture within the Talent and Culture team.
