The Senior Distribution Consultant manages and coordinates all distribution processes related to codeshare and airline partnerships and leads complex, highly visible programs and projects. This role demonstrates a mastery of business requirements and distribution functions, continuous tool management, analysis, and effective communication. The Senior Distribution Consultant is adaptable and comfortable translating broad objectives into concise action items aligned with Company goals and objectives and awareness of financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the bi-weekly distribution and publication of schedules, which includes finalizing schedules, coordinating across multiple departments for the execution plan, processing all related tasks in flight scheduling software and Amadeus, creating and distributing reports, codeshare/airline partnerships, etc.
  • Owns the execution of all distribution initiatives
  • Owns implementation of all distribution parameters, including minimum connect times, MDM updates for station opening/closing, Amadeus business rules, codeshare/airline partnerships, etc.
  • Teaches others the process of gathering distribution requests/inputs/constraints from other departments, such as Network Planning, Revenue Management, BTS, Southwest.com, Marketing, codeshare/airline partnerships, etc.
  • Owns the relationship with codeshare/airline partnership Distribution Coordinators
  • Shows a full understanding of the coordination for distribution software and reservation system reaccom enhancements while providing guidance for distribution software and reservation system reaccom enhancements
  • Provides guidance for the development of new and improvement of existing schedule publication reports and distribution processes
  • Expert in using Amadeus products for various business requirements including Customer movement, business rules inputs, etc.
  • Functions at an expert level in schedule distribution and serves as a subject matter expert and creates/presents material, both written and oral, to the Leadership Team
  • Builds and maintain alignment with multiple stakeholders across Southwest and externally
  • Effectively manages stakeholder's expectations and drives innovation
  • Develops and shares a comprehensive set of high quality hypotheses
  • Leads the development and delivery of Executive-level communication
  • Lead discussions with stakeholders from multiple backgrounds with conflicting priorities, act as mediator to gain alignment, and drive towards a recommendation or solution
  • Represents Southwest at conferences and other external professional activities
  • Shares data, knowledge, and insight to wider team
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to understand and apply information to contribute to the organizations strategic plan
  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

Education
  • Required - High School Diploma or GED
Experience
  • Expert level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
    • Flight schedule distribution processes and procedures including industry standards, IATA and Southwest specific
    • Airline network planning including how schedule revisions impact both the commercial and operational aspects of the Company, especially the booked Customer
    • Network Planning and reservation software systems and data
    • Commercial and Operational performance metrics and targets
    • Airline industry including an understanding of competitors operational and commercial tactics and recent performance

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits

  • Competitive market salary from$116,350 - $129,300per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
