Description

Are you searching for an opportunity to make profound, enduring, and positive changes to a key organizational unit, its people's careers, and its work environment?

Do you want to lead, develop new leaders, cultivate collaboration, and build and inspire teams?

Do you have expertise in scientific and engineering fields related to ISR sensor data processing that you want to apply to critical challenges in Force Projection missions?

If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our leadership team in the ISR and Targeting Technology Group (KAU)

within the Force Projection Sector (FPS) at APL.

We are seeking a creative, collaborative, and enthusiastic leader to partner closely with the group supervisor (GS) on technical oversight, strategic planning, workforce building, and work environment shaping. You will help guide and strengthen our multidisciplinary team of 40+ scientists, engineers, and analysts supporting leading-edge programs in FPS and other sectors for DoD and IC customers. You will collaborate with the group's chief scientist and chief engineer as recognized technical thought leaders in the group.

Our team performs innovative research, development, analysis, and testing of next-generation ISR and targeting capabilities and advanced technologies that revolutionize the US military's ability to find, track, and neutralize land, maritime, and air threats in an increasingly complex battlefield environment. Our scientists, engineers, and analysts apply a broad range of disciplines such as sensor and data fusion, signal and image processing, operations research, applied physics, and artificial intelligence to build systems that automatically or autonomously orchestrate sensors, process data into information, and make intelligent inferences and predictions about complex threats and environments.

As the Assistant Group Supervisor of the ISR and Targeting Technology Group (KAU),

  • Your role will encompass technical oversight, technical execution as a contributor, strategic planning, workforce building, and work environment shaping.
  • You will provide technical guidance and oversight across the full portfolio of the group's technical activities to ensure effective planning and execution, promote innovation, and ensure standards of excellence.
  • You will partner with the GS to set priorities and make key decisions.
  • You will partner with the GS to develop and communicate group vision and strategy.
  • You will foster strategic alliances, communication, and outreach across the lab as well as in the external community.
  • You will mentor and coach the staff, lead career development initiatives, and connect staff with opportunities for growth and impact.
  • You will proactively identify talent needs and lead recruiting, hiring, and onboarding efforts.
  • You will lead initiatives to make the workplace environment productive, stimulating, and fun.
  • You will partner with the GS on all aspects of group administration including compensation, labor planning, resource planning, facility management, and security guidance.
  • You will support FPS, KA branch, and PSMA strategic, business development, and leadership/staff development initiatives. You will serve as an active member of the relevant PSMA Focus Area Collaboration Team (FACT), including contributing to strategy development, investment planning, and cross-program coordination.
  • You will perform duties in a manner consistent with FPS leadership responsibilities and expectations (http://FPSLeadership).
