Job Description Summary: Responsible for configuration and product modeling within the Product System. Uses effective analytical reasoning to understand and document business requirements and business processes required to support the Product System. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of health insurance products and benefits, and uses this knowledge to evaluate requirements, anticipate implications and managed the application. The Product System Analyst should be able to perform all functions in this role with minimal to no supervision.
Job Description
- Works within the Blue KC product models, core benefits and other product components to ensure that each instance of a plan/product is set up in the Product System to reflect Blue KC business rules and State and Federal regulatory standards.
- Responsible for complex system configuration to support all product and benefit options and output documents.
- Maintains a basic knowledge of health insurance products and benefits.
- Understands and provides analytic insight to the overall management of the Product System.
- Works closely and fosters good working relationships with key internal stakeholders
- Contributes to the development of strong user stories/test cases for ongoing product system enhancements.
- Reviews and analyzes product data from internal and external sources such as other carrier's coverage documents, claims processing systems and/or spreadsheets.
- Works with cross-functional team members to assist in developing responses and action plans.
- Maintains written documentation and standard operating procedures related to the Product System.
- Assists in researching production issues; working with vendors to resolve issues.
- Interacts with vendors and outside resources to ensure successful product implementations and updates.
- Incorporates analytical and problem resolution skills to effectively train end users. Assist/consults in the development of training materials and conducts training sessions on the product system.
- Reviews customer feedback from multiple sources and recommends product system improvements and evolution.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university in business, mathematics, health care administration, or related academic field; or any combination of education and experience providing the types and levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities required by the job.
- 5+ years of relevant experience as a business system analyst, business intelligence analyst, system testing analyst, benefits analyst, data modeling or similar field.
- Prior experience working in health insurance and a general understanding of health insurance products and benefits.
- Experience working within a data systems and structures; multi-system integration
- Basic knowledge of the software development lifecycle and structured software development methodologies.
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills.
- Vendor management experience
