GENERAL PURPOSE

The Engineering Change Administrator (ECA) is responsible for coordinating the engineering change order (ECO) process, which includes reviewing and routing the ECO's, creating and maintaining master data in the Company's ERP system and maintaining effectivity dates. This position works closely with the design engineers, manufacturing engineers, designers, technical writers and buyer/planners.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Effectively administer the Company's ECO process for all products to ensure proper revision control and documentation
  • Review ECO's from design engineering for accuracy
  • Route and track ECO's to designated departments for review
  • Assign and maintain effectivity dates
  • Maintain master data in ERP system
  • Track the performance of each department with regard to ECO turnaround time
  • Effectively build and maintain cross-functional work relationships to coordinate the efficient processing of ECO's
  • Consistently support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable laws and regulations
  • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

  • Participate in ERP system testing to validate changes implemented by other departments
  • Initiate and validate changes to reporting tools and ERP system functionality to improve and maintain department efficiencies

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Proven knowledge and application of product development methodology, standards and principles
  • Excellent technical documentation abilities; ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings
  • Detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills
  • Intermediate computer and database skills with proficiency using the internet, Word, Excel and Outlook (or related e-mail system)
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with frequent interruptions
  • Excellent project management and planning skills; ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs
  • Ability to deal with change, conflicts, constraints and problem escalation; critical thinker
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and communication in a team environment
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills with users, peers, and management
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, and procedures
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Superior customer orientation desire
  • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Associates or technical degree (no specific field of study required) with a minimum of three (3) years of document control experience in a manufacturing environment; or a relevant combination of education and experience
  • Experience with ERP systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with SAP
  • APICS certified

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard.
  • General office environment
  • May require regular ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area
