Northern Gold Foods is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of healthy and great tasting breakfast and snack products. We're looking for someone passionate about food to help drive our R&D efforts.

POSITION: R&D Food Technologist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Formulate and develop recipes for new and renovated food products.
  • Manage R&D trials: Participate in customer pre-planning, coordinate trial logistics, track ingredient delivery, manage the execution of the actual trial, and coordinate any identified outputs from the trial (e.g., data, samples, etc).
  • Support manufacturing staff by providing technical information and troubleshooting in situations where corrective action is required to increase efficiency, rectify production deviations, resolve quality problems, or work out production difficulties. This includes working hands-on in processing rooms and packaging lines and direct contact with raw materials, equipment, and packaging.
  • Obtain information related to research and development, including raw material characteristics, processing techniques, environmental conditions, packaging requirements, and production efficiencies for bill of material entries and specifications.
  • Validate, test, and document all formula updates as they occur.
  • Create, implement and maintain final product specifications, recipes and production guides
  • Maintain test kitchen in safe, clean, and orderly conditions.
  • Comply with safety and GMP requirements.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:



  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science
  • 2-4 years of related experience
  • A Culinary Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, FSMA-PCHF, and CGMP's.
  • Strong computer and organizational skills; working knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Activities will include walking, kneeling, lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, stacking, twisting, pulling, pushing, inserting, sitting, squatting, standing, accumulating and collating motions.
