About the Role:

Provides strategic leadership and direction and tactical support for Medical Information, Content Development, Grants, and Publications functions related to relevant therapeutic area(s) and clinical program(s). Reporting to the Executive Director of Medical Affairs and working cross-functionally, within the Medical Communications/Medical Affairs teams, and with external stakeholders this function will ensure cross-functional strategic alignment and execution of all responsibilities.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Manages and/or provides strategic direction in the development and implementation of publication and scientific communications plans for assigned therapeutic area(s)

  • Works with external authors, key opinion leaders, and internal stakeholders to plan and develop scientifically rigorous manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, abstracts for identified scientific congresses, and content that will be used for scientific exchange with members of the healthcare community

  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and other scientific and medical experts to manage and develop content for internal and external use that is accurate, scientifically balanced and aligned with the medical strategy and commercialization plans

  • Manages vendors and consultants that may be utilized to support medical information and medical writing work

  • Leads department and/or project teams and related initiatives as appropriate

  • Ensures all publications are in compliance with company standards and that all internal stakeholders are adequately involved in the approval process

  • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • PhD or Pharm D and 7+ years of relevant experience with Medical Affairs/ Medical Communications and relevant therapeutic area experience highly preferred OR

  • MD and 2+ years of similar experience noted above and Extensive previous managerial experiences also required

  • Strong written communication skills including publication/medical writing

  • Expert knowledge of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations, publication practices, regulatory guidelines and healthcare compliance trends related to publications, medical inquiries and scientific exchange

  • Ability to analyze and summarize data, think critically, manage projects, influence others, work in a team environment, and synthesize complex clinical and non-clinical statistical and medical information to effectively communicate medical and scientific information

  • Knowledge in neuroscience disorders

  • Recognized as an internal thought leader with extensive technical and business expertise within a strategic organization

  • Applies in-depth knowledge of own function, business / commercial / scientific expertise to solve critical issues successfully and innovatively

  • Evaluates key business / scientific challenges and completes complex, ambiguous initiatives having cross-functional impact

  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to build successful relationships with Opinion Leaders, internal experts/teams and other stakeholders

  • Excellent presentation and computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $183,200.00-$265,150.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
