Role Summary:
Reporting to the Business Development Sales Manager, the Account Representative is a key member of the Business Development team. This role is responsible for prospecting new accounts and growing existing customer accounts that are not actively managed. This is a proactive sales role requiring this person to cold call potential new customers and regularly contact existing customers through phone calls and other communication methods. This will include engaging with the customer in a friendly and polite manner, assessing the customer's needs, answering customer questions, and being knowledgeable of Kendall's products and services.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Account Representative position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:



  • Drive New Business: Reach out to potential customers and manage accounts to promote and sell Kendall's innovative products through phone, email, and other communication channels
  • Close Sales & Build Relationships: Deliver exceptional service and become a key player in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where your success directly impacts our growth
  • Develop Opportunities: Take ownership of leads from marketing, outside sales, and national accounts, and convert them into long-lasting partnerships
  • Boost Sales: Increase orders by recommending related products, highlighting features and benefits, and analyzing customer buying patterns to suggest the best solutions
  • Manage Quotes & Customer Inquiries: Provide detailed product quotes, answer questions about credit terms, warranties, delivery, and other topics, and ensure a smooth experience for every customer
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with marketing and product experts to provide tailored support and relevant materials that meet customer needs
  • Problem Solve: Act as a key liaison between Kendall resources to resolve account issues swiftly
  • Stay Informed: Keep up to date on the latest product offerings and innovations to effectively answer customer inquiries
  • CRM Management: Maintain accurate records in the CRM system to track account details and opportunities for future growth
  • Deliver Exceptional Service: Handle customer queries through phone, fax, and email promptly while ensuring a high-quality experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you'll need:


  • Work Experience: 3 years of sales, customer service or similar relevant business experience or 1 year of relevant electrical distribution sales experience (counter sales, inside sales, and outside sales)
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Experience working with MS Office; ability to learn new software; ability to decide which products to focus on and how best to reach customers
  • Organization Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed; ability to work in fast-paced, continuously evolving environment
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; provides excellent internal and external customer service
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal communications, problem solving, organizational and written/verbal communication skills

Qualifications we prefer but don't require:


  • Work Experience: 5+ years of electrical wholesale distribution sales experience; 2 years business development experience; experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Education: Associate's degree, bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience
