Covia is looking for a dynamic Senior Engineering Project Manager (SEPM) who will have a positive impact on Engineering and Operations. This role would ideally be located at either our Independence, OH or Huntersville, NC location. However, in the event the role is determined to be located at the candidate's home office the expectation is that the SEPM will travel as needed and up to 67% of the time to successfully execute the position. The Senior Engineering Project Manager will provide general engineering support which include capital projects, engineering design, equipment specifications/diagnostics, process system review, trouble shooting and project management responsibility including budgets and scheduling.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Carries out varied engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields.
  • Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and implementation plans, including risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Ability to complete cost estimates and project schedules as well as to ensure timeliness in the completion of projects of high quality within budget.
  • Analyze project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project requirements can be met.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
  • Ability to problem solve using a combination of standard methodologies, processes and procedures acquires and/or developed in previous assignments or best practices.
  • Participates in planning and/or preparation of technical electrical and mechanical specs for internal review to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Ability to perform commercial and technical bid analysis and make purchase recommendations.
  • Assign and monitor resources to ensure project efficiency and maximize deliverables.
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to project work plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


The successful candidate will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • BS in an engineering discipline.
  • 7+ years' work-related experience preferably in the industrial manufacturing sector (hydrocarbons, chemicals, mineral processing, adhesives etc.)
  • Skilled in relevant design calculations and methods and in use of engineering programs.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical matters.
  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Skilled at conveying technical information to customers, suppliers, and partners.
  • A leader with strong communication skills & a team -player.
  • Critical thinking skills to evaluate alternative ideas and be able to bring the best idea forward.
  • General understanding of engineering.
  • Experience mining industrial operations and quality engineering a plus.
  • Professional Engineering Certification a plus.
  • Proficient PC skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
