Job Description Summary
You will develop, analyze and model operational, economic, management, accounting and other organizational data to quantify the competitive performance of business segments, evaluate potential operational changes, and design new approaches and methodologies. Analyze organizational data to recommend solutions to new and complex problems, develop innovative strategies, quantify the competitive performance of the organization's operations and/or markets; models and evaluate the potential impact of changes. You will report to the Data Science Manager.
In this hybrid, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783 or Boston, MA 02110

We are looking to fill one opening but are open to candidates at the Data Science, Senior Data Science, and Lead Data Science level. Level and compensation for this position are determined based on experience and geographic location.
Data Scientist (0-3 years of experience)
Sr. Data Scientist (2-5 years of experience)
Lead Data Scientist (4+ years of experience)
Position Compensation Range: $86,000.00 - $142,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates. Primary Accountabilities
- Leverages machine learning and predictive modeling projects across a variety of problem domains or business initiatives, building predictive models to support business partner objectives and business needs.
- Manipulates and investigates large and complex datasets and formulates data requirements and model specifications needed for development.
- Works closely with business partners and domain experts to identify critical questions.
- Working with domain experts, develops problem definition, analytical approach, and research design for modeling projects.
- Works with business partners, both internal and external, to identify new opportunities and challenges.
- Participates in the selection of research tools and technologies, design of a common research process, and brainstorming new opportunities and methodologies.
- Researches and maintains awareness of industry best practices and business strategies.
- Proactively brings in new and innovative ideas and approaches to develop business.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
- Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively.
- Proficiency in programming languages suitable for database access, scripting, and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with version control for software development.
- Demonstrated experience using large amounts of structured, semi structured, and unstructured data.
- Experience formulating, approaching, analyzing and solving problems on massive datasets.
- Solid knowledge managing data to scale using data summarization, query and analysis software and tools.

Additional Qualifications:
- Master's degree or higher in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative discipline.
- Business experience in statistical modeling, data mining, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and applying database queries.
- Knowledge of Machine Learning and Statistical methods and experience applying them to business problems.
- Deploy and maintain real-time model scoring services.
- Ability to extract and clean data from a variety of structured and unstructured sources.
- Solid understanding of best practices in coding, code organization, data transformation, imputation, model selection, evaluation, and tuning.
- Gradient Boosted and Bayesian models.
- GCP or cloud architecture.
- Proficiency in programming in Python and SQL. Knowledge of Go, Java or Scala.
- Knowledge of one version control system (Git).
- Experience working in the insurance industry
