Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing on-site management and direction for staff at both fixed sites and mobile drives.

    Leads, develops, trains, mentors and provides feedback to staff.
  • Manages the operations of fixed and mobile sites by providing leadership to achieve collection goals, promoting appropriate collections based on donor type, and ensuring all regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintains all records relating to the donor process and ensures accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensures all equipment is functioning correctly and schedules maintenance when necessary.
  • Assists in the development, interpretation and implementation of all policies and procedures related to the business unit.
  • Develops and implements training initiatives to ensure staff competencies are current and applicable to practices and policies.
  • Communicates all relevant information to appropriate staff.
  • Provides expertise in technical and clinical areas such as collections and phlebotomy.
  • Promotes increased frequency and multiple product collections at mobile and fixed sites with automated collections.
  • Ensures adherence to all quality measures in place at NYBC at all mobile/fixed sites and corrects and reports any deviances as necessary.
  • Handles all escalated and complex problems and issues that arise at mobile/fixed sites to ensure the efficient operations of the assigned drive.
  • Makes recommendations to improve business unit operations.
  • Attends workshops, conferences, and meetings as required.
  • Any related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Three years of experience performing related duties.

Licenses / Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • CPR Certification preferred. Phlebotomy certificate preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of donor groups.
  • Working knowledge of computerized systems.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

Skills & Abilities:

  • Attention to detail in all work processes.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle a variety of moderate issues and situations. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of staff up to and including executive leadership.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and with authority, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one or small group settings.
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and customers in a helpful, courteous and friendly manner while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations.
  • Ability to plan and organize job tasks or resources in an efficient manner.

Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $80,000.00/year. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant's skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
